The lock is installed using basic tools - no welding or drilling is necessary. And the tailgate lock wires directly into your powered lock system using quick splice connectors. Easy to install and works well.

The lock works as you would expect. Installation takes 1-2 hours depending on your skill level and ability to splice into the OEM harness. Instructions are a little vague and could use better pictures. I did have an issue with the mounting holes on my unit, and had to drill them out to fit my application. I think this was a fluke / manufacturing issue. Even with this issue, it was completely installed in 2 hours. I notified etrailer of the issue and they responded within minutes. very prompt service and good product.
This unit is, in my opinion, a more secure option than the OEM keylock - and it's automatic. Worth the $.

2013 GMC Sierra
It works great. The only problem I had was the holes in the mounting bracket were too small for my tail gate latch mounting bolts. I had to drill them out so I could mount it.
